CWF have developed a system that not only delivers that
wonderful look of real wood, but also ensures that the original
appearance lasts and lasts. Working in the commercial arena
(Cambridge Colleges and Starbucks are recent satisfied customers)
as well as the private housing market the quality and customer
care standards offered are exactly the same.
At Classic Woodfloors only the most up to date equipment
is used, the best available within the industry. For example,
the sanding machines are fitted with triple filtering systems,
which means that your premises will be virtually dust-free
when work is in progress. Similarly our staff are all fully
trained in handling the equipment and materials. |

Step
1 The floor is cleared
of any remaining carpet or gripper rods and any repairs
to the floor are carried out. Now
we can take out any nails and staples left and also fix
down any loose floor boards.
Step 2 We
then use our dust free sanders to grade down the boards
with a coarse 24 grit belt, taking out any cupping
while leveling the entire floor. We continue this process
through the grades up to a 50 grit belt.
Step 3 We
then start the edging around the floor with
a 24 grit belt through to an 80 grit. If necessary
we can use the fine 80 grit sawdust from the edger
to mix with an epoxy resin to fill any gaps we find
in the floor. |
Step
4 We vacuum the floor
and apply filler to fill any gaps, If gaps are
over 6mm wide we use fillets, which are forced
into the gaps.
Step 5 We
then belt sand up and down the grain of the
boards to smooth the wood to a fine 120 grit.
We sand around the edges of the floor to a fine 120
grit, corners are also finely sanded using a Fein © corner
sander.
Step 6 If
we intend to apply stain we would continue
with step 8. We vacuum the floor again and
then start the final smoothing process using a 120
carbon screen attached to a floor buffer. We remove
any remaining marks and scratches.
|
Step
7 The floor is thoroughly
vacuumed again making sure all dust particles
are lifted from the freshly sanded boards.
Step
8 The stain is now
applied, 2 boards at a time, with a lint cloth or brush
from one end of the room to the other until the floor
is completely covered. The stain can take about 30 minutes
to dry before the first coat of sealer is applied.
Step 9 3
coats of sealer are applied with a short haired roller
with roughly an hours drying time between coats. If
the floor is not being stained we need to de-nib the
floor using a 120 screen and a buffer after the first
coat has dried.
Finally The
floor can be walked on after 3 - 4 hours
and furniture can be moved back in after
12 hours. |
